The goal of DCI is to establish a body of beleivers who will impact not only Caracas but the world. It plans to achieve this in the following ways: DCI will be a missions church by sending, giving and going. In fact, the very first offering received in the opening service was completely dedicated to missions. DCI not only supports Venezuelan missionaries, but has also now sent out their first missionary from within their church. Youth Children Hope of Venezuela Foundation Media
CENTER OF HOPE CHURCH Center of Hope was started six years ago in a small hotel meeting room downtown Caracas. It began as a result of the number of people who were responding to the life changing message of Jesus Christ on the streets through street evangelism. Starting with 11 people, the church is now currently reaching over 500 people each week in services and many more throughout Venezuela with their many outreaches.
The church has purchased property in downtown Caracas and will be building a facility where they can more effectively reach and minister to the people of Caracas. The property is located in the Sabana Grande area. The church has a diverse group of members with the majority being youth, young adult or middle age. It is known for its accomplished musicians and great music.
TEEN CHALLENGE Teen Challenge International is a drug rehabilitation organization started by David Wilkerson in New York City. It has been very successful with a 85% cure rate of drug addicts who have completed the program.
We have been involved in the teen challenge program in Venezuela by building the center, serving on the national board and providing counsel. The Venezuela Teen Challenge has reached hundreds of young men not only throughout the country but also from the Caribbean Islands as well. Currently there are 40 men in the program. They learn vocational skills such as mechanics, carpentry, welding, electricity, and cooking while they also study God's word and discovr a relationship with Christ. He is the deliverer!
FEEDING CENTER With over 80% of the Venezuelan people in poverty, it is hard to ignore the masses of needy people. This ministry believes that it is our obligation to reach out to the people in need in any way possible.
While waiting for our own facility, we are currently working with other centers to provide food, shelter, clothing, medicine and vocational training for the people living on the streets.
STREET CHILDREN Over 5000 children under the age of nine live on the streets of Caracas. We are determined and compelled to help reach them and give them a life filled with the love of Jesus. We are currently building on 18 acres homes for these children.
BASEBALL CHAPEL Each fall the major league teams of the USA send their up and coming players to Venezuela to play baseball in the Venezuelan professional baseball league.
I serve as the chaplain for the Caracas team, Los Leones (the lions). Each Sunday morning when the team is playing in Caracas, I conduct a chapel service with the home team, the visiting team and prayer with the umpires before they go out to practice and play the game.
The lions won the national championship this year. Their coach, Carlos Subero , is a believer who was very vocal about giving God the credit for their success.
YOUTH MINISTRIESOver half of the nations population is under the age of 16. To reach the nation, the youth must be reached. They must be shown love, support, confidence and challenged to reach the goals that they set for themselves.
You have a destiny, dream big and chase your dream. Don't allow drugs, alcohol, violence, pre-marital sex or lack of education rob you of your dream. Youth are involved in street outreaches which include dramas, clowns, puppets, magic tricks, and music.
